Motivational Running – Our Deepest Fear. Applies well to business.
This video is all about running but watch it and you will see it can be about anything – life, work, marriage, raising kids, being happy….
If you know what your worth than go out and get what your worth but don’t let nobody tell you you can’t do something. When they say “How great am I” its not saying it in terms of I am the best and that I am better then you and and everyone else. It’s saying “How great am I” as in I am going to be the greatest me I can be and I can do anything I set my mind to, I am fearless, I CAN be Great!
“Our Deepest Fear” is a powerful and motivational poem often misattributed to Nelson Mandela, though it was actually written by Marianne Williamson, an American author and spiritual teacher. The poem has inspired countless people with its message about self-worth, fear, and the potential we all have within ourselves to achieve greatness. It emphasizes that our true challenge is not our limitations, but the potential we might realize if we overcome our fears and embrace our inherent greatness.
Here’s the full poem:
“Our Deepest Fear” by Marianne Williamson
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Message and Interpretation:
The poem speaks to the universal struggle with self-doubt and the fear of fully embracing our potential. It urges us to stop hiding our talents, beauty, and power because of fear or insecurity. We often underestimate ourselves and play small in life, thinking we’re unworthy of greatness or that our success might make others uncomfortable. However, the poem asserts that our true power lies in being our authentic selves and embracing all that we are capable of achieving.
- Fear of Greatness: It highlights the common fear that we all have a deep potential for greatness, and that acknowledging this can be daunting. We fear what might happen if we step into our full power.
- Authenticity and Self-Worth: The message is that we are all worthy of greatness, not because of anything we’ve done, but because of who we are at our core. This greatness isn’t just individual; when we allow ourselves to shine, it inspires others to do the same.
- Liberation of Others: By allowing our light to shine, we not only become the best version of ourselves, but we also empower and uplift others. There’s a collective benefit in living our truth.
Why It Resonates:
This poem is often used as a motivational tool because it speaks to the heart of many people’s struggles: the fear of being judged, of standing out, or of being too powerful for their environment. It’s a reminder that our fear of inadequacy is not really about our limitations, but about the fear of embracing the vast potential we have.
The idea that playing small doesn’t serve the world is particularly powerful—by dimming our light to make others feel comfortable, we do a disservice not just to ourselves but to the world. Embracing our talents and stepping into our potential is, in essence, the gift we give to others.
Inspiration:
The poem encourages people to stop letting self-doubt hold them back and to step into their greatness with courage and confidence. It asks you to believe in your worth, trust in your abilities, and realize that your success is a path not only to personal fulfillment but to inspiring and empowering others along the way.
Ultimately, “Our Deepest Fear” is a call to embrace our true potential, shed the fears that hold us back, and allow our light to shine brightly—for ourselves and for the benefit of the world around us.
